Self-Guided Discoverer Trail - October 2024

Hello Daniela,

Back from a wonderful horseback riding vacation, I am left with many beautiful memories and images of a stunning landscape, along with well-trained, friendly, and motivated horses. Unfortunately, it went by too quickly as always, and saying goodbye was hard for me. Many thanks again for your support and organization.

Warm regards,

Gerhard

Paths of Herdsmen Trail - October 2024

Hello Panorama Trails!

As you know I was with a group of 7 women and we did the Path of Herdsman with Luis.

The trip was a great adventure! I loved my horse Xiernado. I liked how the terrain was always changing from the Catalonia Jungle, the Garrotxa, and the Pyrenees. The overnight accommodations were fantastic, with comfortable beds and hot showers. I love that the hotels were in ancient towns with lots of history and charm. Riding into Beget was one of the highlights for me. I loved riding in the cobblestone streets and up the cobblestone steps. The sights and sounds were spectacular!

The food was so deelish and I like how we got to experience the local foods, wines and cava! I even tried pig's ears and it was very good. And the wine was plentiful!

I think the ride was probably more physically challenging than I anticipated. The downhill descents on narrow rocky paths with a 1,000 lb. horse behind me were kind a scary, but I still loved every minute of it. We had some nice fast gallops and the horses were sure-footed and fit. I learned that being in the saddle for 7 hours a day is harder than I thought it was going to be. But I felt fit enough, energized and excited to ride each day.

I liked riding over the high mountains and seeing herds of cows, flocks of sheep, shepherds & their dogs, humans picking mushrooms, etc. The solitude and beauty of that area were notable!

I give huge credit to Luis for guiding us on our adventure every day. He is a true gem and a great asset to your guide service!!! He is capable, kind & patient, and has many talents. He knows the trails and also gave us great information about the local area and the politics. He made sure we had everything we needed and that we were having fun. He has great horsemanship and also exhibited good riding skills. We wondered why he waited til the last night to pull out his guitar and sing for us. His music was amazing and we were all mesmerized! I hope you know how lucky Panorama Trails is to have him. Nacho did a great job also with transporting supplies for horses and luggage for humans. Luis and Nacho are a great team!

Thank you for providing such an amazing adventure in the beautiful Catalonia region of Spain. I am so glad I chose the Path of Herdsman, as it was challenging, beautiful, and SO fun!!! I felt very accomplished and proud of my group of ladies for rising to the challenge and embracing the great adventure. We had a blast!

Paths of Herdsmen Trail - September 2024

I had not been on a riding holiday before but I thought this was fantastic. Amazing scenery, great food and hotels. Lovely horses and Louis was a great guide. We saw places we would never have found otherwise and it truly was an unforgettable experience. First class.

Kind regards

Andorra Trail - September 2024

I absolutely loved the Andorra Trail! The Pyrenees in northern Spain are simply breathtaking. Just like last year, the organization, guides, and food were absolutely top-notch.

The trail was a bit more challenging than I had anticipated, even though I keep fit and am well-trained. Riding and hiking for 9 hours without a break is definitely intense - phew! But the reasons for continuing without breaks were always understandable.

I don’t know any other provider that adapts so flexibly to the daily conditions of the trail and the group. Arranging transport for horses and riders to the next accommodation when necessary, switching from camping to a hotel due to bad weather – all that was an incredible move!

Keep up the great work—I’ll happily come back again!

Andorra Trail - August 2024

Wow, what an adventure! I can hardly put into words how unique those two weeks were.

First of all, the horses were absolutely amazing—responsive to the reins, sensitive to body language, powerful, fast, and impressively sure-footed. The matching of horses with each rider was spot-on. The horses are treated beautifully. They’re healthy and well taken care of, just as I would care for my own.

The guides are fantastic. Rudi has been doing this for 30 years, and you can sense his experience in every decision. The weather in the mountains changes quickly, so we had to be flexible with the route. The logistics behind the scenes were incredibly well-organized, and the equipment for the horses was perfect.

The other riders on the trail were truly amazing—they became real friends. We formed such a great team. This journey wasn’t always easy, and you’ll face both physical and mental challenges, but with this team, the outstanding guides, and the wonderful horses, we made it through and had an unforgettable adventure.

The trail itself was breathtaking. The first week was easier—ideal for getting into the rhythm, getting to know your horse, and settling in. The second week, however, was quite challenging: many long hours in the saddle, waking up at 4:30 a.m. to avoid thunderstorms, and riding for over nine hours without a long break (due to thunder risks). In the high mountains, the weather changed dramatically, with temperatures around 0°C, strong winds, and freezing rain. It’s absolutely essential to pack waterproof and cold-resistant riding gear, as well as proper hiking boots.

It’s a true adventure, with all the challenges and rewards that come with it.
